Phi Mu

McNeese State University

– Alpha Upsilon –

Recognition

As one of the many sororities on campus, Phi Mu Alpha Upsilon strives to maintain her place as #1 on McNeese’s campus.  Through our philanthropic, academic, and campus involvement we make ourselves known throughout the local community.

There are two awards that Phi Mu has been honored to receive in the past years- Philanthropy Award and Hera Cup Guardian. Both awards are given during Greek Week in the spring semester. We take pride in holding the Philanthropy award at McNeese because even with our tremendous amount of campus involvement, we still have our priorities in line and strive to serve others. The second award, the Hera Cup, is given to the sorority that has accumulated the most points during Greek Week from various athletic, intellectual, and artistic competitions. We have been the recipients of the Hera Cup award ever since it has been made.

Alpha Upsilon has also received several other important awards in the past years. Each year we raise over $10,000 for our national philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, through our Man of the Year mock beauty pageant.  In 2011, our chapter was awarded the prestigious Community Helper Award by our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for all of the hard work and service hours we volunteered. We have placed in the Homecoming Float Decoration Competition and Stunt Fest talent show during greek week for years. Each year we have a large portion of the members and queens on Homecoming Court, Spring Court, and the Krewe de Rowdy Mardi Gras Court. One of our advisors was also named Advisor of the Year in the spring of 2013 during Greek Week.
